Why I Built CellarIQ

I've been collecting wine and whisky for over two decades. Somewhere along the way, my cellar stopped being a hobby and started being a portfolio — hundreds of bottles, serious money, and no good answer to the most basic question: what is it actually worth today?

CellarTracker is great at tracking what you have. But it can't tell you that the Hibiki 12 you bought for $95 is now trading at $759 — a 698% gain sitting in your cabinet. Or that your 2011 Caymus Special Selection has gone from $119 to $294 while you weren't paying attention. I was stitching together Wine-Searcher tabs, auction results, and a spreadsheet I'd update maybe twice a year and immediately distrust.

I spent 30 years in tech, watching software eat every other asset class — stocks, real estate, crypto. Collectors had real-time portfolio dashboards. Wine and whisky collectors were still on spreadsheets.

So I built the thing I wanted. Live secondary market valuations. Gain/loss vs cost basis. An AI that actually knows your collection and can answer questions about it. A weekly scan that flags what's moved while you weren't looking.

CellarIQ is for collectors who take their cellar seriously — and want their tools to match.
